Katherine Dumalski (Kat), 😼 RAR! at Healthcare Success Katherine ,

If we're switching our primary geolocation from Elkhart to Michiana, should that be reflected in the URL as well?

Also, "Michiana, IN" looks strange because it isn't a city. Something like "in the Michiana region" would be more appropriate.

Perhaps we should check with Garrick Gaffney, Healthcare Success Garrick on how often people actually search the term "Michiana" compared to "Elkhart"? Obviously Landrum wants to target the Michiana area, but that doesn't mean using the word will be best from a search standpoint. It may be too broad if people are looking for a local solution.

Also, rather than having two bullets, just change the first services bullet to this:
  • Lumbar radiculopathy (sciatica)
And remove the "Sciatica pain" bullet. They're the same condition. Sorry, I kinda screwed the pooch on this one.

The About page still says "retentive medicine."

New paragraph in About:
As an interventional pain care group, we’re highly trained at fixing the source of your pain with minimally invasive procedures. And as an integrative practice, we also prescribe the full range of pain treatments, including:

Let's modify the location language, please craft me something to the effect of "in the Michiana area with offices in Elkhart, Mishiwaka and Brewmen"?

I have further clarification on "Michiana" - Saying "Michiana" is like saying "So Cal". So it DOES matter. It's local lingo that makes sense to the natives.

Think about it - SoCal Motor Sports? SoCal Motors? So Cal Sports Chiropractic (my actual doctor)

I think we should make this a regular part of discovery to learn if there are any abbreviations/paraphrasing for their location. We can always offer these two as examples.
Jake Weber, Copywriter at Healthcare Success
Okay, I think I've absorbed all the information on this. A few points:

I understand that "Michiana" is a commonly used term in this region, however, that doesn't mean it'll be useful for search in this specific context. For example, if I needed a pain doctor, I wouldn't search "so cal pain doctor" because that's too broad of a region.

Kat, from your post in the other thread:
Garrick 's feedback was that there probably won't be a volume for keyword searches with teh county in them, but the surrounding neighborhoods, so it probably would be better to mention all three locations...

This sounds like we're making speculations based on misinformation, as Michiana isn't even a county. It's actually a region made up of seven different counties.

That being said, if "Michiana" is our most powerful geolocation keyword, I'd recommend something along the lines of:

"Locations throughout the Michiana region"

That way we're letting people know that we have multiple locations in this area. We'll also be using the term they're most familiar with and perhaps searching for. I say "perhaps" because, again, it sounds like we're speculating on this.

Adding "Michiana" plus each city is going to make the H1 too long. It'll look terrible. If we add the other two locations to the bottom of each page, that may be sufficient from a search standpoint for the three "lesser" geolocation keywords.

I hope that wasn't too confusing.

Totally believe in your rationale, but we're also going to have to write to appease the client while trying to get all the important keywords in there while also still trying to sound like human language.

Can I tell Shellyn Wong Shellyn to do the following, do you agree with th=ese adjustments? (Shellyn, wait for Jake's response)....

Locations throughout the Michiana region (don't inlcude elkhart, etc., too wordy here)

Alright, so to clarify, for home page, it will say "Board-Certified, Fellowship-Trained Pain Specialists with locations throughout the Michiana region"

Then for About (and also the other inside pages?) use "Offices in Elkhart, Mishawaka and Bremen" as smaller text below the h1 header? Like just a paragraph tag or a smaller header (h2, h3?)

Shellyn Wong Shellyn  See above and wait for Jake's comments. thanks.

Correct, as long as Jake Weber, Copywriter at Healthcare Success Jake  agrees. Wait for his reply, even if its tomorrow.

Okay, thanks Katherine Dumalski (Kat), 😼 RAR! at Healthcare Success Katherine  !

I would just include the 3 locations towards the bottom of the page and can mention Serving The Michiana Region on the top of the home page. On Carpal Tunnel Express client, we mention Serving All of Florida on top by the phone number......Just my two cents......

A few things to consider:
  • Steven Jacobs, πŸš€ at Healthcare Success Steven and Stewart directed us writers to include a geolocation keyword in every H1 tag to improve SEO for local searches
  • Having three locations in each H1 is going to look long and unprofessional
  • I'm not sure whether including geolocator keywords in an H2 will give us much SEO benefit, especially since every page already has geolocation keywords at the bottom
  • I believe it would look more professional to not have these H2s β€” it comes across a little spammy (aesthetically speaking)
Considering these points, we need Steveo to weigh in on whether the SEO benefit of having geolocation keywords in every H2 (in addition to them already appearing at the bottom of the page) is worth slightly compromising the professional appearance of each page. Or if we should take a "better safe than sorry" approach.

I'd say that doing three locations is off the table. Since Michiana explains all of the areas, I think we're better off really just focusing on that in the headers and then maybe below at the end of the copy we can say like "specializing in (specialty) in Elkhart, Mishawaka and Bremen, Michigan"

So like "Landrum specializes in pain relief in Elkhart, Mishawaka, and Bremen, Michigan."

That work for you Jake Weber, Copywriter at Healthcare Success Jake  ?
Jake Weber, Copywriter at Healthcare Success
Steven Jacobs, πŸš€ at Healthcare Success Steven we already have the three locations at the bottom of each page. Will that be adequate from a keyword standpoint? From a reader's standpoint, it'd be a little repetitive if we added this to the end of the body copy as well.
Steven Jacobs, πŸš€ at Healthcare Success
If we can have the bottom copy have the locations but talk about the specialty next to it, that's fine.
